David has worked for a number of universities including Northumbria, Manchester, Durham and latterly Hull, specialising in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations. During his time at Hull, David held various positions; Postgraduate Director, MBA Director and Head of the Department of Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management among them. He presently works as an Educational and Human Resources Consultant and Trainer, provides teaching input to a number of highly prestigeous MBA programmes around the world and acts as a PhD supervisor.
David has carried out hands-on activities in the field of HRM for several years and has been a member of the UK ACAS National Panel of Arbitrators since 1988. As well as being a member of UK Employment Tribunals since 1995, David has also acted as a UK NHS non-Executive Director and as a consultant to Trade Unions and a Trade Union Education Trust. Additionally, he has provided a large number of consultancy and training interventions to companies and other organisations in the UK, as well as in many other countries, such as Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, the Emirates, China, Singapore and the Sudan.
David holds three university degrees, one of which is a Doctorate, and is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He has taught across a very wide number of HRM related areas and skills, including Negotiating Performance Management. David's latest publication, relating to Talent Management in Saudi Arabia, was published in February 2013.
